Alloy 20 Plate Flanges consist of mostly nickel (32–38%), chromium (19–21%), iron, molybdenum (2–3%), copper (3–4%), and a small amount of manganese and niobium for stabilization. These flanges provide good mechanical properties, such as tensile strength of about 620 MPa and a yield strength of about 300 MPa. Alloy 20 is specially designed to withstand corrosion by sulfuric acid and provides good chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion resistance. The overall balance of corrosion resistance ensures that the material is best suited for harsh chemical environments and high-performance industrial processes.
