Copper Nickel Threaded Flanges are generally made from Cu-Ni 90/10 (C70600) or 70/30 (C71500) alloys, which offer superior resistance to corrosion in sea water and fair mechanical strength. These alloys offer significant resistance to biofouling, erosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Flanges that have internal threads are threaded flanges, which can be screwed into external pipe threads, and thus are especially suited for low-pressure, small-diameter, or flammable systems where welding is undesirable. The tensile strength is between roughly 275–500 MPa depending on the grade and condition.
