Duplex Steel 2205 Flanges are produced using a nitrogen-enhanced duplex stainless steel alloy containing about 22% chromium, 5–6% nickel, 3% molybdenum, and nitrogen. The balanced austenitic-ferritic structure, which offers superior strength (minimum yield strength ~450 MPa), is almost twice as high as that of normal stainless steels. The alloy possesses superior resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, qualifying it for use in corrosive and high-pressure environments. It also has good weldability and impact toughness over a broad temperature range.
