Duplex Steel Flat Flanges are generally made from Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507 grades. These alloys have a dual-phase microstructure (austenite and ferrite), which offers them higher mechanical strength—often as high as double that of normal stainless steel—and very good resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion. The composition of the material is generally 22–25% chromium, 3–5% molybdenum, and nitrogen, with excellent performance in corrosive applications. These flanges are particularly suited to welded piping systems subject to moderate pressure.
