Duplex Steel Spectacle Flanges are often made of Duplex 2205 or Super Duplex 2507, which provide a dual-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite. It gives high yield strength (almost twice that of typical stainless steel) and excellent stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion resistance. These flanges are designed for alternating open and closed service and thus suited for pressure testing and maintenance work. They have good mechanical properties with tensile strengths between 620 MPa and greater than 800 MPa.
