Super Duplex Steel flanges consist of a high-chromium (approximately 25%), nickel (7%), and molybdenum (3–4%) alloy combination, with nitrogen, tungsten, and manganese added. This chemical composition gives great resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking. These flanges possess a two-phase austenitic-ferritic microstructure, which gives them a special combination of high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. They generally possess a tensile strength ranging up to 800 MPa and a yield strength of around 550 MPa. Their high toughness and structural integrity place them in severe-service conditions.
