Stainless Steel 304H flanges are mainly made of 18–20% chromium and 8–11% nickel, but with a slightly increased carbon content (0.04–0.10%) than in 304 grade. This high carbon enhances high temperature strength and creep resistance. Mechanically, the flanges provide about 585 MPa tensile strength and about 240 MPa yield strength. They have very good ductility, oxidation resistance, and structural stability in service temperatures up to 815°C (1500°F). The austenitic structure of the alloy also offers good formability and weldability, which makes it applicable to high-temperature applications that demand long-term performance.
