Stainless Steel 348H flanges consist mainly of 17–20% chromium and 8–11% nickel with the addition of niobium (columbium) for stabilization and increased carbon content (0.04–0.10%) compared to regular 348. The addition of niobium increases resistance to sensitization and provides structural integrity upon exposure to high temperatures for extended periods. These flanges commonly have tensile strength of about 550 MPa and yield strength of about 240 MPa. 348H retains very good mechanical strength, creep resistance, and corrosion protection in oxidizing and heat-consuming environments and provides good weldability and toughness as well.
