Stainless Steel 304L flanges have 18–20% chromium and 8–12% nickel content, and a maximum of 0.03% carbon. The lower carbon content reduces the possibility of carbide precipitation upon welding, which prevents damage to corrosion resistance in welded components. These flanges have a tensile strength of about 485 MPa and yield strength of about 170 MPa. They have great resistance to oxidation and a broad spectrum of chemicals, as well as good mechanical properties over a wide range of temperatures. Austenitic microstructure ensures superior toughness, and they can be used in both cryogenic and elevated temperature conditions.
