Stainless Steel 316L flanges consist of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and not more than 0.03% carbon. The low carbon content improves weldability and prevents carbide precipitation, thus making the alloy suitable for corrosive-sensitive applications. The flanges are offered with a tensile strength of about 485 MPa and a yield strength of about 170 MPa. They also possess high resistance to crevice and pitting corrosion in chloride-enriched environments, coupled with acceptable ductility and toughness at any temperature range. The austenitic structure also provides superior formability and the ease of fabrication.
