Stainless Steel 316Ti flanges have 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and are stabilized with titanium (usually approximately 0.5%). This addition of titanium forestalls precipitation of carbides during welding and exposure at high temperatures, enhancing resistance to intergranular corrosion. Mechanically, such flanges have a tensile strength of about 550 MPa and yield strength of about 240 MPa. The alloy maintains great corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride and acidic environments, as well as offering increased creep strength at high temperatures. Its austenitic microstructure affords good formability, weldability, and general toughness under adverse conditions.
