Stainless Steel 321H flanges consist of 17–19% chromium, 9–12% nickel, and titanium stabilizing, with increased carbon content (0.04–0.10%) compared to normal 321. This improves strength and resistance to creep at high temperatures. The titanium content stops carbide precipitation upon welding to prevent intergranular corrosion. The flanges have a tensile strength of approximately 515 MPa and a yield strength of approximately 205 MPa. Their austenitic constitution gives them excellent ductility, weldability, and resistance to oxidation at temperatures up to 900°C (1650°F), which makes them ideal for prolonged exposure to heat and stress.
